Entry Information

Films or videos must be about growing older and/or about older adults. The Silver Images Showcase accepts both foreign and American produced short and feature-length narrative, documentary and educational films and videos. Productions with copyright date of 2004 or later are eligible. To enter, send a DVD or a VHS video cassette of the film or video. If the film or video is not originally in English, the film MUST have English subtitles or be dubbed in English. Videos will not be returned unless accompanied by a self-addressed, postage paid mailer with the title of the production clearly indicated on the mailer. Once accepted for screening, an exhibition copy for Silver Images Showcase screening will be requested from the entrant. Every care will be taken to safeguard films, videos, and publicity materials while they are in the possession of the Awards Competition. However, if loss or damage occurs, the Silver Images Showcase cannot accept or assume responsibility. Deadline:There is no specific deadline for films/video to be considered.The screenings are on-going throughout the year.

Productions will be evaluated by a jury made up of gerontology professionals, film professionals, and older adults.

Films and videos will be judged according to their ability to do one or more of the following in an artistic manner:

·        Reach out to both old and young to encourage them to live well and to accept both the rewards and challenges of growing older

·        Educate viewers about aging and elderhood issues

·        Inspire older viewers, instilling hope for new adventures and depth of meaning in their lives

·        Dispel common myths and stereotypes about aging and older adults

·        Demonstrate that creativity and vitality continue well into later life

Agreements if film/video is selected
If selected, the entrant is responsible for the arrangements and cost of shipping the exhibition copy.

Upon request, the filmmaker or distributor will provide stills and other publicity materials. In addition, some filmmakers may be requested to do press interviews prior to and during the Awards event. Video dubs of selected films and videos will be sent to the press for review.

The Silver Images Showcase will ship back the exhibition copy after the close of the showcase screenings using UPS ground.
